UTP Solid Cable?Use solid cable for runs between two wiring closets or from the wiring closet to a wallplate. Solid-conductor cables, designed for horizontal and backbone cable runs, should not be flexed, bent, or twisted repeatedly. The attenuation is lower than that of stranded-conductor cable.

UTP Stranded Patch Cable?Use Stranded Patch Cables in shorter runs between network interface cards (NICs) and wallplates or between concentrators and patch panels, hubs, and other rackmounted equipment. Since it?s made with stranded conductors, our Patch Cable is excellent for applications that call for repeated flexing without damaging the cable. However, attenuation is higher in stranded-conductor cable, so the total length of stranded cable in your system should be kept to a minimum to reduce signal degradation in your system. It?s best to keep lengths of stranded patch cables under 20 feet."

It's hit or miss, but I find Ethernet, USB, coax, RCA, whatever cables there all the time for very cheap.

Yeah but what about shipping? How long do you have to wait? At $2.59 for 25 ft, you can AT MOST get about 289 ft of Cat 5 cabling for my $30 for 1000 feet. Also, you cannot make the cables as long as you want. You have to stick with 25 ft unless you want to cut the cable and rehead it again.

I made MANY cables at work using solid core, shielded cable and never had any problems. Granted, they aren't as flexible, but I would assume that most people don't jump rope with cables and what not. You hook em up and they work...

Look carefully through trash bins, you could find some for 0 cost, perhaps in less than a year. Hint--use a good strong multi LED flashlight, then repost illigally again and ask where you can find some powerful LED flashlights cheap.

PS A better post might be, "where can I find a good replacement brain cheap".

Monoprice is not bad on shipping for just a single cable. I bought cables from them and shipping is cheap.
