Best Place to Buy Bulk Plenum CAT5?

Where can I get good pricing on 1000' of bulk Plenum CAT5? I use to know a guy who installed networks that could hook me up but I have since left that job. My local Home Depot only has PVC wiring.

Anyone? Any technicans have some to sell?

I just bought four 1000' spools of plenum, Cat 5 from Clifford of Vermont (1-800-451-4381). Each spool was about $147 including shipping. That's the best I could find for plenum cable.

it was like $260 at homedepot for a 1000' box. They are selling plenum for like 35 cents a foot...

Thanks for the help people. I guess I just have to shop around. I would think that a burning building would have bigger issues to worry about that flaming data cables but I might as well do it right.

plenum is a type of insulation (the jacket that covers the group of wires). regular cables use PVC.

PVC can spread fires, while plenum does not (or is not supposed to).

there are actual fire codes that require plenum jacketed cabling for installation inside buildings. usually this has to do with hanging ceilings. it depends on the area's fire codes.

Woo hoo!!!! Picked up a 1000' box of Berk Tech Plenum CAT5 (my favorite ) on Flea-Bay. Thanks to everyone that posted with places to look.

Unclemo: The plunum jacket also gives off alot less toxic smoke than regular PVC.
