Best place to buy AutoCAD?

Gee... thanks.

Then buy it from one of the "discount software" places in your junk email folder. Odds are, if you try to be cheap, you will not get a legitimate copy and we'll later see a thread complaining about how you were ripped off.

If you want to be sure, get it from the source.

Yea, you don't get price breaks on stuff like AutoCAD. It's full price, or pirated; nothing in between. You can get academic versions cheaper, but you can't use them for business purposes. If they find out you are(not as hard as you might think), they'll make life very unpleasant for you.

Gee... thanks.

You didn't specify, so I presume you are purchasing a full retail copy?

If so, buying a copy of Autocad is like buying a copy of Microsoft Windows - both products are monopolies within their respective markets. As a result, price is for the most part consistent from reseller to reseller.

That being said, there is a $300 discount now until 10/14/2011 at CDW and PCConnection Express which isn't being offered at Autodesk's website.

And, Tiger Direct has it about $100 cheaper than that - if you don't live in FL, IL, NC, TX, GA, SD, or ID the Tiger Direct price is even better because you won't pay sales tax on top of everything else.

The best deal is from a Reseller of AutoCad.

Tell them you're shopping against SolidWorks and they'll drop their price. keep grinding them on a discount and buy towards the end of the month. Keep grinding the reseller and they'll probably throw in free training.
