Best place to attach temp sensor....?

My thermaltake Venus 12 HSF comes with a temp sensor to monitor CPU temps. Where should I attach this sensor? I have been getting conflicting recommendations from friends and want to place it somewhere where it will be the most accurate.

Well you can't actually put it between the cpu die and the heatsink, that would screw up your contact between the two. Might put one on the heatsink and the other somewhere to just take case temperature.

stick to the side of CPU or stick into the center part of the heatsink.

that might be the closest working point to the heat source

Everything I read from real sources (IE not my friends haha) say putting it under the cpu in the middle of the socket gives you the most accurate reading.

I have a CoolerMaster Areogate2 and that's where mine's at. My sensor has 2 wires running to the head, I just pulled them apart and weaved them between the socket pins. worked like a charm.

I think not ^. Choice one is between the CPU heatsinks fins, as close to the base as possible. Choice two is between 2 sticks of RAM, and lastly is the hard drive. Of course the video cards cpu or ram chips are good as well, but this makes the fans ramp up when you work the card, like when playing 3D games. Good from a cooling perspective, but bad from the noise side.
