Is there a best place to book a vacation and get the cheapest price? Probably to Hawaii or Alaska.
Any experiences you have with certain companies and or advice greatly appreciated.

i've pretty much used only expedia or travelocity for the past 6-7 years and have never had an issue, both out of the country and in the country, including Hawaii.

How was Hawaii? Worth it? Ever been to Alaska?

yes hawaii is probably my favorite place i have been to. well i don't know it's hard to say what my favorite place is but it definitely had the best nature of any places i've been to. we stayed in maui for our honeymoon and didn't visit any other islands. we were there for 10 nights and wanted to stay longer.

words can't explain how awesome maui is. when i got home i started looking for jobs over there but as expected there really isn't anything in my field over in hawaii. i had a friend who worked there for a few months but came back because there was no money to be made over there. he was on the big island though.

never been to alaska and can't really say it is on my list of places to see any time soon. i prefer warm climate on vacation where i can snorkel and go on beaches.

Alaska is awesome.

I spent ~1 week many summers ago around Anchorage and the Kenai peninsula (Denali area).

do it.

Hawaii is great however its not THAT much greater then many of the places in the Caribbean which are closer and cheaper to fly to and cheaper to stay at

www.bing.com/travel is actually pretty good - it searches all the major travel sites, lets you know if a price is "good" or not, shows fare history. I'm a big fan of that.

I had a terrible experience with Expedia. The absolute worst customer service I've ever seen. That's coming from someone who works in a similar industry. Was supposed to travel to DC when they had that major snow storm back in December 09. Had it booked for months. Expedia took my money but refused to help me find another flight. Actually had them hang up on me twice. Big no-no, and I wasn't even being rude to them. Had to deal with Delta myself.

Hotels.com is pretty good. Booked my last vacation with them. For big/international trips, I'd go with an actual travel agent, or book everything direct. Not through these online all-in-one services.

I actually booked a really sweet deal for Maui on Delta Vacations a few months back. We're leaving in a few weeks. Can't wait.

Booked tons of times through travelocity, expedia and orbitz. They're all give you good deals and I normally just pick the ones that's cheapest. I've also found some excellent deals on travelzoo and kayak recently.

I'm going to Hawaii for my honeymoon in January and debating if I should book myself or go through a travel agency this time.
