I look at some of the places advertized on Anandtech. There's Russes Compucheap. There's stuff on the price quote sites.

Since I also live in CA this is relevent. I check PriceWatch and look for places in nearby states, especially AZ and NV. No sales tax and better shipping times/rates.

Being from WA I got the same problem with Onvia. Normally I wouldn't mind the tax but when you're looking to buy a Sony GDM F500R it matters, ya know what I mean Vern?

I buy memory, cpus, and hard drives from Memory Man in New Orleans. I just got a t-bird combo from TCWO in FL (I'm half hoping it doesn't work so I can call and complain to the rma tech). I Squared Inc is in Utah and generally is faster on delivery than the other two places. BTW, if you buy from across the country, pay the extra for 2 or 3 day delivery. Ground is horrible.

In L.A., it's best to buy your stuff locally. You pay the tax, but you don't get hit with shipping. If you have a problem, you just drive to the vendor, and deal with it. With the prices we get out here, it's a great bargain. :D
