I went to Cancun but I wouldn't recommend that right now after Wilma.

Maui is very nice. My wife and I went there for a week last year.

Sandals all inclusive. Check out St. Lucia or Antigua.

Go somewhere warm and tropical where you can spend your time relaxing, rather than sight-seeing. Of course, I'm not one to talk necessarily ... our honeymoon was a 1 year trip to Australia where we did a ton of sight-seeing. We also lived in one place for 9 months though, and had the chance to settle in a bit and relax.

how about tropical places? what area has the best snorkeling, crystal clear waters, lots of sealife etc. I've been to hawaii a lot so other than there would be good.
Mayan Riviera. go to Cozumel. there is some kick-ass diving there. I think it is the world's #2 diving destination.

where is the #1 place to go snorkeling then?
As I always do in these Crarribean destination threads, I am recommending that you go to Ambergris Caye in Belize. The world's second largest barrier reef is a few hundred yards off-shore so the diving is great. They have a shallow marine reserve which has awesome snorkeling including swimming with and feeding sharks and rays. It is also a small relaxed tropical setting that is cheap and safe.

We went to St. Thomas and St. Johns. No worries about passports or money as they are US Territories and have all the benefits of places like Jamaica, Cozumel, etc.

i never saw the point of traveling abroad on honeymoon, i'd rather leave that for a vacation and have honeymoon be something more intimate
pssht try telling that to a wife! you KNOW all they see is the pricetag :p

j/k. Drakkon is right too.

you can have a kick ass honeymoon anywhere. honestly, location is secondary. just lay into that snapper!

you do know that you can "photochop" your billing receipt and add an extra "0" at the end of the total price :p

PS: Just wanted to put in that photochop word b/c of all the photochop threads being posted lately ;)

Depends on your view of honeymoon.

Would you rather go somewhere that you can just relax, hangout, and basically bum around for a week or two?

Or do you want to go somewhere you havent been before, to check out sites, and be on the move constantly.

First answer that question.

Wasn't for a honeymoon, but recently I went to St. Maarten, St. Barths, Nevis, St. Kitts, and Anguilla. Loved it all. (If you go to Nevis, be sure to hit Sunshine's Bar for Killer Bees and for some outstanding bbq ribs!)

Virgin Islands
1) No passport . . . except to visit the BVIs
2) English speaking . . . sort of:)
3) short flight
4) great beaches, wildlife, scenery
5) good food
6) cheap accomodations . . . even for weekly home rentals
7) all inclusive packages available but it's easy to plan your own itinerary

I didn't honeymoon in the next two but I think they are great options:

Bali
1) absolutely beautiful island
2) great swimming, diving . . . decent surfing
3) cheap accomodations . . . even for the nice stuff
4) VERY good food
5) very nice people and culture
6) If you are adventurous you can get very cheap business class flights into Java and visit places like Yogyakarta (climb up/into an active volcano, visit ancient temples, buy a copy of Oracle 9 or Cold Fusion for $2.50)

Thailand
1) three days in Bangkok, few days in Chiang Mai (north), and a week in Phuket
2) three star hotels for less than $50/night
3) GREAT food
4) wonderful culture
5) very friendly natives . . . it's a shame you didn't visit before getting married:D

Looking more for the second one. Nice area with activities( snorkeling, shopping, dining, site seeing, hikes etc) A nice, natural place, with a very nice hotel of course. :)
