You have a superb motherboard, first off.

A new CPU would be a cheap upgrade and a lot less hassle.

However, what do you do with your machine? If you're a Photoshop/Premiere guru, then I'd reccomend an upgrade to a new CPU/motherboard.

BTW, a P3 700Mhz (100Mhz bus) FC-PGA would be your best buy.

I'd reccomend buying from compuwiz here on the forums....I think that's his name???!!! Maybe it's Compuwiz1...damn, I forgot. Anyways, his site is here. He sells CPUs that are guarenteed to work at your OCed speed. The 700Mhz (100Mhz bus) normally have no problems doing 933, but most can get it to 1Ghz+ with ease. Just be sure to NOT skimp on the cooling. No Orbs!

Good luck!

croton, wat are u overclocking that sucker too? the p3 700 is pretty much it for the intel p3 overclocks. If your p3 700 cb0 isnt up to snuff, then you would want a p3 700 cc0.

you'd have to change your m/board to use either of those!

if you do decide to change your mobo/cpu setup...then i recommend AMD...i was a P user myself and since have now converted to AMD...cheap, stable, no more issues with via chipsets, and fast. I have the epox 8k7a wih a 1.33 AYHJA chip OC'd to 1610. Good luck.

I have a p3 750 running at 975 w/ default 1.7v. No problem doing 1Ghz at 1.75v either. I prefer to run my chip at default voltage. This is on an Abit sl6.

I just helped a friend build a VP6 based system. He has 2 PIII 750MHz Cco CPU's which up to today he has been able to overclock to 7.5x139= 1043MHz. Not too shabby... But remember you can also sell your CPU and get a $29 Duron 700MHz and a $90 Abit KT7E motherboard. With this setup you can easily get up to 1GHz. :D
