Looking for a good pic hosting site. Need at least 300MB storage space or so. Need to be able to upload pics that are 5-8MB each. The ability to publish galleries would also be nice.

I've seen flickr, photobucket, pbase, etc. What are the advantages of each?

Photographers -- what do/would you use?

Your best bet is probably to fork over the money and pay for a hosting service.

If you choose a host that has the Fantastico Auto-Installer, it's about 15 seconds of work to install coppermine, gallery, or 4images.

Go with gallery on a dedicated server of your own. Super easy as DT pointed out.

Not opposed to paying -- in no way do I expect to find what i need for free

As keeleysam points out -- a cable modem with a 128K upload cap doesn't exactly make a good picture server.

Then you're best bet is to buy your own domain and a hosting account. Will give you tons of freedom regarding how you host the pictures. If you get that and need assistance installing a photo gallery, PM me.

I would second this recommendation.

Domain + hosting = best value and flexibility

You can install whatever image gallery software you want, you control who has access to which albums, turn off hotlinking, basically do whatever you want.

You can have domain + hosting for around $30 - $40/yr.
