Most of you know of my site (dieselstation.com), and i've been running it with old and very ancient static pages since the beginning, and i think it's time we went to something more modern. I would like to ask your suggestions for PHP based content management software, both paid and opensource. What is out there? What's good? Which should i avoid?
I've started looking at Joomla, and so far it seems decent, but perhaps the best way to ask is to tell you what i require.
1. integrate the current user database from my forums into the main site so that users don't have to log in twice.
2. News and updates section that users can post comments to (like a blog).
3. Since my site is basically an image site, i would need an image gallery that will integrate with the CMS (content management system).
4. I would like for users to be able to post comments to the w allpapers also. Maybe not specifically to each image, but to the image set as a whole.
5. I would like to add a "My Garage" type section where users can upload their pictures and create their own profile of themselves and their cars and what mods they have.
6. Integrate ecommerce for future shopping sections.
7. turn my static image pages into php based and searchable pages. (i would probably have to leave the current static pages there so as not to mess up links already out there).
So.. any suggestions? This will probably be a custom job isn't it? any rough ideas on how much this will cost if i decide to shop it around?
