Best photography forums?

episodic

Lifer
I'm looking for forums with tons of activity, weekly contests, good critiques, discussion, etc. It'd be awesome if they had an active photshopping section as well. . .

Post what you are aware of. . .

Thanks!

Photography on the net's forums is dedicated to a canon camera which I don't have. I've been to Miranda's forums - and I'm not sure the deal - but where I'm at they are excrutiatingly slow. .

Any more?

photo.net is a good site, I only really read the Leica section most of the time but they have lots of different ones to look from.

hmmm disappointing to see that http://dpreview.com hasn't already been mentioned...
Lots of sub-forums for different brands and for general post-proc/softwares discussions... And all are very active!!!

I don't think there's any better photography forums out there....

Ehhh.... I used to do dpreview, but now I see it as way too amateurish. The pics that people post are by and large amateurish and snapshot-ish, although there are a few that are professional. However the forums are massive and quick so I go there for information, like on which portable image storage device I should buy, etc.

Fred Miranda on the other hand is smaller, slower, but the quality of the photos that people take are largely top notch.

On a more serious note, check out http://photo.net/community/forums Some of the photos they post on that site are amazing.
I wondered how long it woudl take for someone to mention Photo.net. That place is an amazing resource, especially if you still shoot with film. Whenever I need inspiration to go out and shoot, that forum has it.

I guess you're right... but for a broader perspective, if you got to dpreview you can find a solution to any of your problems... or answers to your queries about almost anything or any camera/lens/accessory... or at least you'll get fwd'ed to some other site where you could find that answer...

Is there a forum where you can hire someone to do post-processing work or touch-ups?

A lot of the people who post over on iphotoforum.com are professionals, but I don't know if any of them do just processing or touch-ups. It wouldn't hurt to ask in one of their forums. You have some people here in ATOT who are really good with PhotoShop, you might want to start a thread to ask for help.

No one likes Photo.Net? I've been going to their forums since 1998 and have always felt like it was a wonderful resource/community.
