was playing around with animoto and their styles seem cool but it limits you to using 1 song.. wtf??

i actually ended up going this route and it turned out quite nice although it took a while

Used to be ProShow Gold from Photodex, now it's Bolide. Yes free and fantaboulous!

Wrong. Pro Show Gold was (and still is) made by Photodex (http://www.photodex.com/proshow/gold), and is an excellent and easy product to use.

i actually ended up going this route and it turned out quite nice although it took a while

How do you make the slides with just text?

Sony Vegas is pretty darn near to being extremely easy to use with some advanced-ish features if you want to play around more. You can use as much music as you want, crossfade tracks with ease... adjust sound pressure levels, fade between images... but it costs a lot.

Not top of the line but still nice.
a demo might be worth downloading (not sure if there are any)
