Acedemic question I know, but which will give the best performance - this is a SMP A/V editing station -

dual PIII 933's
768mb ECC
2x 36.4 U160 10k hdd stripe A/V array
1x 9gb U2W 10k boot drive
40x UltraPlex
12x Plexwriter
G450
DV500
SBLive Platimun
etc.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Well unless you want to use it as some sort of server you do not need to run AS. Pro is going to run better for you for the fact that it will have services running that you will not use.

Win2k Prp supports 4 way SMP and 4 gigs memory
Win2k AS supports 8 way SMP and 8 gigs memory, Network load balancing, and enhanced clustering

Thanks - I bought a Hot kit from MS last year and now I have the time to play with it. It came with a copy of 2k pro & a copy of 2k AS w/10cal - not bad deal for $129 :) Anyway I'm using the 2k pro now, but the AS is giving me the old siren's song. - LOL

Maybe I'll put it on one of these dual P-Pros I'm selling and give it a twirl.
