I have a friend that needs these... I got him the ones from the 3dfx site... they might be causing him problems on a P2 Celery 433MHz (128MB RAM). He's experiencing these problems under Starcraft and Broodwars... which at 640x480 & 256colors should not pose a problem at all. Seems to slow down his computer and bog it down to lag out, on and off for 3 second intervals about every 30 seconds... I don't know what drivers he's been using for 4 years on this system but he said he's never seen it so sharp and small and colorful (which I laugh because at the above resolution and color scheme in those two games it shouldn't be a far cry from the standard display adapter Windows designates when it doesn't have a driver installed). Maybe he's got a different card and the wrong drivers are somewhat universal s they installed to work but slowly? I don't know but I'd like to try the best drivers out there first. Where can I get them (linked please). Thanks.

Sorry I don't know much about 3dfx cards since I've always used Matrox, ATI or nVidia cards in my systems.

best drivers are the last official release from 3dfx. they can be found at voodoofiles.com. i dunno why ur friend's system is lagging. maybe its the win98 install... or it could be hardware related? i've had two v3 2000's, and tho they never bogged down my systems, one did seem to perform better then the other. first try uninstalling the old 3dfx drivers, then installing the new ones. if worse comes to worse, do a clean win98 install. if ur games still run crappy, u can try to get the wicked gl drivers. if that dun work either, i would point my finger at hardware (either the video card or possibly the mobo?).
