I'm looking for the best motherboard with the following constraints;
1. Pentium4
2. IDE RAID ATA-100/133

I've been reading up on the Asus P4C800E Deluxe, but there are some complaints about the Promise controler. Also looking at the P4P800 with the VIA RAID Controler, which is better? or something else.

So my system would look something like:
2.8GHz Pentium4 (Canterwood)
1G (2x512) RAM
2 200G Seagate HD (Raid)
ATI AIW 9600Pro
Motherboard?

Also, the theme for this computer is quiet, I bought a Sonata (thanks for the hot deals post @ CC) case and looking for a quiet CPU cooler and maybe VGA cooler as well, any recomendations?

My dual P3 (733MHz) just is to slow for video encoding.

Regards,

Also, not into overclocking (cooler=quieter),
P4 will have HT, I'm a DVDSrink fan,
I have the 2 200G seagate's already (ATA-100), I hope not to get burned on the rebates from Tiger.
I'm not a gamer, it it makes a difference.

Thanks,

The Promise onboard controllers are of the lite variety which means that you have only one stripe size option. I have not tried Via's controller.

To be a lot safer a Pci Raid controller offers a lot of benefits. First if your MB goes bad and you have to Rma it you loose all of your 400gb of data. With a Pci controller you can swap your array from mb to mb. Next pci controllers usually have many more config options than their onboard counterparts.
