Best pending FPS?

I only play single/multi FPS games, with favorites being games like Far Cry, D3, PainKiller and HL2. However, I don't keep up with release dates. Currently, I'm playing nothing at all but feeling the need to get something to pass some time (aside from D3 expansion). Are there any anticipated FPS scheduled to be released in the next 3 months or is my best bet just jumping on Chaos Theory now? I'm not in a position to continuously drop money on games so I'd rather not get CT if there is supposed to be a really good FPS released this summer.

Anything at all on the near horizon or should I just get CT and wait it out for the HL2 expansion?

Pariah is the next one to hit stores, but I think the jury is still out on that one....FEAR, in my opinion, is the next great FPS game coming out...and the HL2 expansion pack will be out later this summer.......stay tuned to the E3 coverage in a few weeks for a more definitive answer...

Okay, after watching the videos for BF2, I'm completely blown away. That game cannot come out soon enough for me. What's the official release date for it and is that date firm (unlike most release dates)? Dumb question here but will a previous version of BF be necessary to play BF2?

I remember reading about FEAR awhile back...looking forward to that too but more so towards STALKER if it ever actually comes out.

There has never been a game that has required the original to play the sequel. So to answer your question, no, you don't need BF42.

I am getting Pariah, FEAR, and BF2, just to cover the bases myself. The demo of Pariah interested me, FEAR just looks rad, and well you can't deny BF2 looks like a lot of fun.

STALKER will be late, if at all, this year....BF2 does look good

I'm going to E3 in 2 weeks, I'll repost in this thread on anything I see there.....looking forward to hopefully playing FEAR this year, last year it was just a movie clip...

Quake 4 and Call of Duty 2 (new engine) were just announced to be out by the end of this year, so we'll have to add them to the list as well...

Quake 4 is being made by one of my favorite studios, Raven Software. They made hits like Jedi Outcast, Soldier of Fortune 2, and X-Men Legends. I've played just about every game they've made, they haven't let me down. They were able to make the quake3 engine do amazing things nobody thought was possible, here's hoping they can do the same with the doom3 engine.

No kidding....I've given up on it but it does look fantastic. Looks like around 3rd week this month for BF2 unless there's going to be a hold-up.
