Hello guys, (shh no crap on it being a thread about pens lol its in the off topic section)

I have seen threads from 2010/2011 on Pens etc. But didn't want to revive an old thread, instead started my own to get more up-to-date information.

Simply, I am left-handed and whenever I write it ALWAYS smears / smudges all over the page and I am left with a huge ink marks etc. on my hand / palm. I hate this. So much. It makes my work look really messy etc.

So, does anybody out there know of some really good (refillable preferably) pens that do NOT smear/smudge so that a leftie like myself can use it without those issues listed above.

I can spend anywhere upto like $150 (although really shouldn't have to I hope not - im just sick of the ink problems)

Uni-ball Jetstream RT.

Fantastic ballpoint. I researched ballpoints for a long time, and pens in general, and landed on that pen. Glad I did. I love it, no smear, smooth write, very nice pen. I swore by Pilot G2's for the longest damn while, and I don't really know why, not after spending time with the Uni-ball Jetstream RT's.

If you need an all-weather, write-in-the-rain type, I hear the Uni-ball Power Tank RT is great for that. I've no experience with those, but I'd like to try. I've used Rite In The Rain brand and the Fisher Space Pen (both same underlying pen), and love them for field writing, but would be very appreciative of an upgrade in comfort. It looks like the Power Tank RT series is my next pen purchase because I really want a field pen that I actually find comfortable and of good utility.

Any good all-weather pen deserves Rite in the Rain paper, or if there is anything similar out there and cheaper, it deserves that. Being able to write in the rain and not deal with a mess, that is very worthwhile, at least if you ever find yourself in need of that capability.

I like Pilot G2 .5mm pens.

I just got a pack of TUL ballpoint .8mm pens and they're pretty good too, but I don't like them as much as the Zebra G2s.

I actually have an embossed version of one of those from an award thing years ago.

Are pretty nice.

I have a base model. It always worked, but I never used it much. I do everything in pencil. I used to use mechanical pencils almost exclusively, but now use mostly wood. I have too much crap to deal with without worrying about snapping the tip off my good mechanical pencils. Also, wood just feels good, and I enjoy sharpening them :^)

Aurora Diamante fountain pen

Price: $1,470,600

The Aurora Diamante is the most expensive writing instrument till date. Only one is for sale per year. The Aurora Diamante contains over 30 carats of De Beers diamonds on a solid platinum barrel. It has a two-tone, rhodium-treated, 18KT solid gold nib and is personalized with a coat of arms, signature or portrait. Aurora Pens says it is the only over 30 carat pen in the world.

I actually like just cheap mechanical pencils myself, I have a few around and haven't sketched in awhile, I'm not bad.

Amazing what you can do with a decent one sometimes.

I usually preferred mechanical pencils (especially over wooden pencils), but over time, I have grown more annoyed with the writing feel of pencil. Ultimately, I always favored pencil because I could erase, as I make frequent mistakes in writing. (perhaps minor dyslexia? Also, I'm sloppy, and/or ill-attentive.) However, with growing use of Uni-ball ballpoints, I am in awe. I wish I had discovered these during school - I cannot count the number of times I grew annoyed with the smearing or bleeding of Pilot G2 pens, but they felt comfortable in grip and smooth in writing. The Jetstream RTs, they blow away everything about the G2s.

I do have a couple of Uni-ball 207 gel pens, which are, compared to the G2s, also fantastic, but still pale in comparison to the Jetstream R2s. Solid and quick writing, and no smearing, whereas any gel pen is still going to be subject to smearing if touched to quickly. Uni-ball at least has a terrific ink once it sets, regardless of pen/ink type, which is fantastic for checks. I write or sign checks infrequently, but when I cash any, I use mobile upload, so I'm still stuck with the checks for security. It gives me peace of mind knowing these checks are secure once voided (and they get shredded, but that wouldn't be enough for my mind, not without an industrial shredder).

G2's are awesome, and my favorite pen also. But they do smear. It sounds like, as a lefty, his hand is dragging across the ink as soon as the ink is laid down. I don't think the G2 would meet his request.

Such is the price of being demon-spawn.
