Best PCI video card? No AGP on motherboard, and I need a video card

Hi people,

I recently made a silly mistake, and bought an ATI Radeon Pro 9700 AGP card for my mobo, and realized it didn't have an AGP slot, just two PCI slots. I mixed up my mobo, and had not looked at it for a long time... it was a silly mistake.

What is the best ATI or NVIDIA card I can get for PCI (not PCI-E)? Currently the mobo uses "shared" (aka CRAP) video memory.

I want something that will allow for decent video and decent games (well, decent from 2 - 3 years back) to play okay. I was thinking a radeon 9200 pci, but was hoping that there were something better to look for on eBay.

Thank you.

It would be cheaper, and you would get better performance, if you just bought an AGP based motherboard. You can get one on Newegg for under $30.

The x1300 pci is the best (120.00$) but for the price the 6200 pci (50 .oo$ on ebay) is a good choice for the buck.

The PC is mostly for business use at home, and web surfing. The kiddies play the occasional online game, but find the onboard memory isn't very good. I was hoping for a simple solution to a recomendation for a good second hand PCI card.

Why buy a new MoBo, CPU, memory, and video card when all that is needed is a PCI video card. I was just hoping to know what good PCI video cards were out there, NOT PCI express. I shall grab an ATI Radeon 9250 PCI with 128 MB memory for $20 CDN.

Thank you for the suggestions.

As suggested, the X1300 is the best for PCI if you can find it, but a 6200 would be Ok if you can't and should handle games Ok at lower settings - it should beat a 9250 comfortably too, even though it only has 64-bit memory, it has much more powerful core.
