I found a header for a good price, $270 shipped. The seller is well reviewed and has some meaninglessly high feedback amount. But still I want to have some amount of protection/recourse just in case. What's the best way to pay for it?

I'm oldschool and say direct is better because you can dispute the charge if there is a problem. Also I still remember horror stories about paypal accounts being frozen with funds in them, so I just plain don't touch it. It is possible that paypal has improved and someone will correct me, but I find it unlikely that they would be more supportive than your own CC company.
