My mom is stuck to her landline but has a crappy nokia/altell phone she uses on road trips (is easily lost). Virgin mobile looks *sort of tempting with a cheap phone* but could be a waste of money.

Could anyone who has experienced pay as you go wireless phones give me your wisdom?
