Best pair of headphones for under $50?

Looking for a decent pair of headphones to couple with my X-Fi card to game with. Right now I have a 5-year old pair of Sony stereo headphones, and I feel like the sound could be so much better with a new set.

Suggestions can range from new pairs to a used pair that you're trying to sell.

Thanks.

amazon hd 497

That's what I would say.
Well, after researching over the weekend, these are the ones I went with. Reviews seemed superb on this set, and for $37, couldn't be beat. Thanks to an Amazon warehouse in town, I ordered yesterday morning around 10am, received this morning around 10am with free shipping :).

They sound freaking excellent to me right now, but I've read many places that suggested a nice break-in of the headphones before they would really shine. So I'm letting an iTunes playlist play on them for a while, probably for the rest of the night until I go to bed.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Are the HD497's good for both gaming and music? I have the same price point as OP and would be interested in opinions.

I think it's a very good option for games, music, and movies at this pricepoint.

Music sounds fantastic on the set, and I just played a round of Madden06, which didn't sound spectacular. However, god forbid EA make good sound in their sports games. I'll play some BF2 later tonight and report back.
