Hello folks, my ASUS P4P800 Deluxe is giving me some problems and I think its the compatability issue with the VGA card (RADEON 9700 Pro). So instead of going out and buying a new VGA card (~ $200 geforce 6600 GT looks mighty tempting ) I just decided to get a new mobo.

I read the round-up of socket 865/875 article part 1 (part 2 never came out T.T) and I can see that from that IS7 is one of the top leading boards, but I was wondering if any new boards came out after jun 2003 that perform better than the boards reviewed in that article.

Also how does SiS Chipsets perform compared to 865pe/875p?

I like my IS7, but that's the only Intel board (other than an ECS i848 based board) I've been able to do any fiddling with.

I'm leaning towards the IS7 series but I hear that people were getting problems. Have they released a new version of the IS7 that solves these problems?

Also what's the difference between the IS7-e, IS7, and IS7-g?

I would do the research, but I have limited internet access this week and I don't have the time.

First of all, what kind of issue are you having with the 9700Pro and the Asus? I don't think your going to see alot of bang for buck by going from 865 to 875. IMO, you may want to start saving up for a new MB, CPU, and VC. If you plan to stick with AGP for a while, I'd suggest buying a great AGP VC first. You'll be able to use it on the P4P800. Later on, you could upgrade to an AMD 64 CPU and a nF3 socket 754 board with AGP.

The better route would be to stick with what you have and go AMD 64 and a 939 nF4 mb with a PCI-e VC. Just my $0.02....
