Best P4 Oc'er

Ok this is a two part question...... so first I was looking to oc a P4 and wanted to know what seems to be the best chip for OCing right now(best P4 that is)? the second part is what seems to be the best 865 board to OC?

So the 2.4c is a good OC'er... so can you change the multiplier? Cause if you use the C version with the 800fsb that doesn't leave much room for increasing the fsb.

Isn't it suppose to be most instead of 'some'? Anyway, I think 2.6C might be another good choice.

everydae: Yes, your right...I just didn't want to overstate it and make it sound like a guarantee. Not all will do 1Ghz, but from what I have read, I would say "most" will.

You can't change the multiplier on Intel chips (unless you have an Engineering Sample).

well now I?m a little confused..... I didn't think changing multipliers was possible with P4 chips...... but Shimmishim has down ..... 2.4c@3.5..... the 2.4C sporting a 12 multiplier? with out changing the multiplier that would put his fsb at about 292?????? So my next question is can this be done? or is he using a 533fsb 2.4Ghz P4 with a 18 multiplier??

i'm running 12 x 292 ~ 3500...

the issue isn't running this fast... the issue is having ram that can keep up with high fsb of this chip....

and unfortunately ddr584 just doesn't exist so i have to use pc3700 and use the 5:4 divider

I just bought a 2.6c 800FSB and this is what im at on air cooling Thermalright SLK-947-U Copper Cooler.

I havent reached the limit yet , and i may not even be near it , im just waiting to think about better cooling so i dont mess up.

DFI Lan Party 875PRO

Im at 3.32GHz now

13 x 255 @ 3320 MHz @ 3.32GHz

vCore 1.63v

4 x 255 @ 1020 MHz QDR RAM

2 x 256mb Geil 3200 vDimm 2.7v

Id buy a 2.4c / 2.6c 800 FSB if i were in your position. 😉
