Hi,

I'm just wondering what boards you would you recommend me for my P4 2,4ghz 533mhz.
I want a board that has DDR333 support, preferably AGP 8x but not needed and ATA133 support.

I have seen several boards, like the Abit SR7-8X but I havent seen any reviews of the new SiS 648 chip and I am therefore a little hesitant about buying it...

Hope some of you can come up with some good suggestions.

Both anandtech and toms hardware guide have reviews of the sis 648 chipset. I would wait for a better selection. I've had 3 sis boards for my p4's, and all worked very well. I try a new board about every 2-3 months and sell them in the paper when finished.

currently, the best is the Epox 4G4A+ 845G motherboard. that may change with the AGP 8X boards coming out this fall, but realistically, AGP 8X won't be consumer friendly for at least another 6 months or so, so there is little reason to not buy a motherboard now if you want one.

well i tried the msi 645 max? the sis chip one and all i got was headaches so i returned it for a via (yes via) p4pb 400 which has 333-400 ddr,agp8,ata133,usb 2,firewire,onboard sound and lan and i havent had a hick up yet. i read a review on this card that really showed its powerand i believe it now. i dont have any benchmarks and with new boards coming out soon it might not be your choice but as of last week this was the only agp 8 board that was available in vancouver that i know about.

I dont know if it was the msi board that was bad or the sis chip but i am leary of them now.

Anyway i am far from an expert but i do recommend this board.

If you could run somebench marks that wopuld be great. Also how well does it overclock?
But start a new P4X400 thread if you can give some info on how it runs.
