What type of features do you need? I would recommend the Intel one you mentioned along with the P35 MSI series as well. Very stable.

If you read forums, you will find that every board has some issue and you won't be able to buy anything.

P35 boards are pretty much the same in terms of speed and performance and they're pretty much solid since there has been a few bios updates for them by now. As long as you don't buy some strange brand no one's ever heard of.

You should look at the specs and see which board has the features that you need. Abit, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, DFI.. all good brands.

If you get the Intel board be sure to get standard 1.8v cas 5 memory as specified here.

I think that a lot of problems with this board are because people use higher performance memory designed for overclocking.

You could also get an End of Life 965p or 975x and have all the same features and save a bit of money.

In terms of performance at stock 975x is still the fastest and I believe also has the lowest energy draw.

I'll second (or third) for an Intel brand board. They are the ultimate in stability and are very good about quick BIOS and driver updates. And as LR6 mentioned, make sure you get standard 1.8v memory, CAS 5 -- you can search on newegg by voltage, for example, to ensure you get the right stuff. Intel is a stickler for standards compliance, hence the stability of the platform. Double check this, but typically, Kingston KVR800D2N5 and KVR667D2N5 (like the 2GB 21GBx2 kit KVR667D2N5K2/2 or KVR800D2N5K2/2G or etc. depending on the speed you need) are listed on Intel's compatibility lists and are cheap and easy to find.

You might consider the Asus P5W DH Deluxe board. I have built 3 systems using this board and find it to be rock solid. It has a ton of features. It is also not fussy about ram, one I built for a friend has mismatched ram, and works fine. It is also available at Frys for $139, which is about $100 cheaper than when I purchased them last year.

It is also the Digital Home series and has a remote control. While I haven't used mine, I understand it is for entertainment purposes, ie movies. Since you specified movies as a criteria for your board, this may very well interest you.

Hope this helps.

Here is a link to the board at NewEgg so you can see it better. It is $175 at the egg though.
