Which is the best P3 processors to buy in terms overclockability and price?? Please recommend me cause need to upgrade my C2 566. I need a FC PGA P3 for my i815 mobo. and which P3 processor should I get 133 or 100??
By the way, what is the differences between them??

Your best PIII to buy would be a AMD t-bird 750 and crank that badboy up to 1100mhz................

I tried a Chrome Orb on a celeryII with poor results... Not exactly sure why it didn't work, seemed to clip on OK.

I am using my chrome orb with no problem
my lowest temp can get to 22 celcius and 45 celcius at full load. seems no problem for me.

for the Tbird and P3 which one gives better graphic and has best range of overclock??

If you are looking for a PIII, I would go for something that starts off at the 100MHz bus like the 700E. The main difference is that if you try to OC the 100MHz models, you can get higher without throwing your PCI devices too far out of spec (esp if you get around 133FSB).

On graphics performance, the AMD chips do slightly better on graphics applications (content creation benchmarks) although Intel does slightly better than the AMDs. Of course a lot of this depends on the chipset you are using, so the differences are pretty much negligible.

TBirds generally can OC better, but if you get the right PIII, those can be pushed pretty far as well. The difference is that OCIng the AMD chips does not stress the other components whereas OCing an Intel chip does (since AMD OCing is done by the multiplier). Valuewise, the AMD chips still win out. But since you already have a i815 board, the TBird isn't really an option.

yeap, that is what i am thinking of getting a P3 because i already have a 815 mobo. Somehow, the AMD Tbird seems interesting. Why oc the Tbird doesn't stretch the pci too much?? i have no idea at all.

Should I go get a new Tbird mobo with Tbird or just get a P3 and forget it????

When you over clock a t-bird you can do it just by setting the clock higher you dont have to mess with the FSB so you pci is not out of specs. and when you overclock the PIII you can only do this by raising the FSB and this will cause you pci to be out of specs. So if you have the money I would go with the AMD setup and sell your old board.

Yep, same situation. Since you're only changing the multiplier of the CPU, none of the other components in the system are affected by overclocking an AMD processor. (Of course, you can still choose to raise the FSB as well, if your system components can handle the higher bus speed..)

Actually, you can get a Abit KT7 + 700 Mhz Duron for about the same price as a P3 700E. Not to mention you already have the Chrome Orb for cooling. If you unlock that sucker it will probably hit +900 MHz which is about the same results you would get with a P3 700E. It's your choice.
