Yeah yeah, I know this question never gets asked...

I've ordered a new mobo, high quality ram, parts, etc etc. All I need to order now is an Intel CPU.

I want to hit a gigahertz in speed, but if I can save some cash in the process I'm open to overclocking.

From what I've read so far it seems like the P3-700 and 750s are the safest bets (not with 100% success of course)

How've you guys done?

For myself it took water cooling to get my 700E to 1001mhz using a Abit BF6 motherboard. Wouldn't have done it without water cooling was getting to hot

Got my FCPGA P3 650 at 1021MHz with 1.85V without supercooling. Just a Hedgehog copper heatsink. I got REALLY lucky with this CPU. My older slot 1 650 cB0 wouldn't get past 910MHz on my Asus P3V4X.

800E is great. I got one that made it to 1006 and 1066 with 1.75V. Might need very good cooling though. It does not matter OEM or retail though.
