im looking to replace my intel 965 board (came with the intel upgrade kit along with an e6300 and vistua ultimate for $250 :D, didnt pick it out myself). i have an e6300 and id like to take advantage of its overclocking abilities, what would be my best bet, preferrably something under $300.
thanks

Apparently the Gigabytes are almost as good for *much* less money. That's what I'm getting.

Zardnok is right though - the Asus is the absolute best in benchmarks.

If you don't mind waiting p35 boards are starting to come out, and x38 boards should be out later this summer, they should all overclock well (as since they have a higher native fsb anyway it takes a smaller jump overstock vs a 965/975) also do you care about crossfire/sli as that impacts your options a bit.

not at all. im not avoiding an sli board but i wont utilize it if the board so happens to have it. x38's? havent heard of those. i havent seen seen too many p35 boards, but from what ive seen they are quite a bit more than the 965, is the clocking ability enough to justify the price?

I have a P5B deluxe and it is great with my e6600. I am running solid at 3.5. Its only $180. I would go with Asus they are a great company and my board of choice.

The Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 is just about as overclockable as any LGA775 board on the market, and it only costs $85. If you're not comfortable with that chipset (even though there's no reason you should be) the 965P-S3 is what I have, and it works wonderfully.

Same here, buddy. It's almost exactly the same as the DS3 and mine overclocks dead easy with no problems whatsoever, and it was pretty damn cheap to boot.
