Also, which is the best for E6400?
Is the E6600 really worth £60 more then the E6400?

well the E6600 might be easier to overclock because of its higher stock multiplier.(and greater stock speed)
So out of the box performance will be higher.
As for the motherboard, since sli/crossfire doesn't seem to be an issue with u.3 choices.(in ascending order of preference)
1.Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6
2.Abit AW9D-MAX
3.ASUS P5WDH
The last 2 has support for crossfire and potential support for sli.

I'm leaning towards the P5W DH tbh.
Mainly for it's E6600 overclocking performance, external SATA ports, nice board design and WiFi capability and ariel.

E6400 is best overclocker so far. I heard the P5B Deluxe board is the best for overclockers as well.

Well, too late lol.

I've gone for an E6600 for the extra 2mb cache.
Aswell as an Asus P5W DH.

That is a very good choice. Make sure you get a quality HSF as well. These 4MB CPUs are rather toasty.

Yea lol.

I was going to go with another Big Typhoon.
But these things are very poorly made imo.
Two of mine have begun to lean and slant on one side over a certain time period.

I've gone with the Zalman 9500 LED.
My mate uses one and his E6600 is running 3.4ghz on stock voltage with a breeze.
Same P5W DH Mobo.

Plus he uses it on silent mode.
I dont even think the loud mode is loud, so I should have no issues with heat.

Also, I managed to get a good deal on some ram.
I bought his spare set of Super Talent 2x1GB T1000UX2G5 1000mhz DDR2 ram for £150. Which is'nt bad considering the cheapest 2GB slow set of DDR2 ram is like £150 :p At much lower speeds.

The P5W DH Deluxe is a great mobo. The P5B is hitting higher fsb numbers though. People are having problems getting past 3.6 with the E6600 and the P5W DH. Right now lower multiplier chips are doing better at overclocking it seems. That could change though as better BIOS updates become availble. Each week we see some new improvements with the mobos.

I bought one of there best Athlon 64 mobo's a few years back.
And it died on me.

I tell you now....THE worst customer services I have ever witnessed.
The entire call centre, without sounding racists was full of rastafarian sounding idiots who didnt know the first thing about customer service!

When I asked if I could get it replaced...

I was laced with answers such as...

" naahh man, you hav to buy a new one man"

I was like, erm, what about the 1 year warranty as required by law? (UK) (I'd only had it for like 6 months)

"nah man ya layin (lying), show me, show me where it ses that!?"

I was passed around like 5 times.
The guy only helped me eventually because I asked for his name and said I would report him. He then agreed that they would repair or replace my mobo, but only if I sent £15 along with the mobo.

GOD DAMN RIP.

Never again.

Abit can go kiss my ass.
