V.Control seems to have some problems on my system (MSI BX Master, Cel 850 - not currently OC'd, 512 MB RAM, SB Live, V3 AGP, Win XP Pro). Will anyone suggest some other utility?

Hi, oldfart.

At 122 on a BX board, I assume the AGP bus would run at 122/3 = 40.67, right?

I just popped in the 850 yesterday and haven't tried goosing the FSB yet. Wanted to make sure everything was working okay first. Only tried tinkering with V3's speed using V.Control.

Had a 466 running at 525 (7 X 75) for many months without a problem. I assume the bus was runnung at 75/2 = 37.5.

Am I mistaken here?

122 FSB, AGP = 82 MHz. I dont know if you plan on overclocking. I had a BX-Master, a Voodoo 3, a MX300 sound card (Aureal Vortex2). The BX-Master had some bugs. The PC would not boot with a Voodoo3 above 122 FSB. It would also not recognize a Vortex 2 sound card in any PCI slot except PCI 1 or 2. A My plan was a PIII 550E @ 133 FSB, 733 MHz. Since I could not overclock to where I wanted, and the sound card problem, I returned the board and got an ASUS P3B-F which worked flawlessly. This was some time ago. Others had the same problems. I hope the problems have been fixed by now. Just thought I'd let you know in case it happens to you.

Thanks. My BX-Master is over 1.5 years old, so I assume it will suffer from the same limitations you had. Ironically, I started with the P3B-F, but switched to the BX-Master after I got two DOA P3B-Fs.

From your math, I gather that the AGP bus runs at 2/3 the FSB setting. I thought there was a different divider once you passed 100 FSB. I'll need to look this up, I guess.

I recall having some problems getting certain cards to work in certain slots too. But it's been a while, so I don't remember what the problems were.
