I know the yate loons are awesome for 120mm, but anyone know of any really good (quiet + decent air flow) fans that aren't expensive?

What specs (db or cfm) and price range are you looking for? And you mentioned a 120mm, so I'm guessing that is the size you are looking for... And do you mind LEDs and stuff, or no?
Tas.

Oh i'm looking for 80mm ones.
Something under 25dbA and maybe close to 30CFM? Or is that being too picky.
Probably want to keep it under $10...unless it really can deliver.

Bewarn that the cooler master 80mm are much louder than Panaflo 80mm L1. The panaflo is more expensive but I had seen one running none stop for ten years in a server's power supply.

Go with the ones on the clearance section at SVC.com

Cooler Master: 80x25mm 25dBA 32.11CFM
http://www.svc.com/80comaneledc.html

They got other colors too...just click on the link above to see the item and then click on the clearance section to see the other colors.

I got one of these on my system. They are quiet and got the rifle bearing which makes it much quiter. Look nice too.

Yup, Panaflos are the standard where all other fans are measured. There may be some as good, or slightly better for certain applications, but you can never go wrong with one. We use them at work as replacements. Whenever a fan goes out (rare) a Panaflo is installed. They have never gone bad so far.

The panaflos seem to require extra wiring if you don't have 2-pin slots tho...one even said it just came with bare wire...

dont be misleaded by people sayin the coolermasters are "louder" than the panaflos...the coolermasters are virtually inaudible...but they dont really move much air...

edit: assuming you have any other fans in your system ;)

uh, yes the difference is quite large when you are comparing 25 vs 35 dba...

but i was referring to how someone said the coolermasters are much louder than the panaflo...its 21dba vs 24dba....i think both are pretty silent assuming they are NOT the only fans you have in your system

I think I might just stick with the coolermaster. I'm using it as an intake...and I have pretty low CFM exhausts so it should even out. Plus the SVC prices were good ;).

Yeah, it's a Sun work station that been used as a small server. It has a Sony powersupply with a Panoflo H1 fan in it. The fan voltage is tempature control by the powersupply so it never spin up high and get loud.
