Check the batteries after you drop it. The flashlight may survive but the batteries might not and if they leak you can expect a real mess inside your favorite fleshlight.

Powered by three (3) AAA alkaline batteries

Not being rechargable sucks

:/ everyone has different needs. if they made it rechargeable, the output would be dimmer and wouldnt last as long on a charge, and it would cost more. and then you have to deal with the charging system when it breaks.

AAA batteries are everywhere, and they are absolutely reliable. they could have used AAs, but then people would complain its not compact enough.

this thread is quickly turning into what i feared. "ZOMG that sucks! buy a coast light its WAY better for reasons i WILL NOT state. Just trust me, im derrick rose"

yeah i do that... i mean i have dropped this from the top of a 10ft ladder... so about 16ft drop onto concrete. CRACK is the sound, i cringe. It sounds like it shatters. Then you get down, pick it up, and it turns on no problem. Usually the light doesnt even shut off!

I have the older Mag with same style but without gimmick interface and a coast and the coast is better. Like comparing craftsman to snap-on. You get the idea.

This Mag actually looks like it would be worth the premium

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846

At that price you're getting into the range of a lot of other makes like olight, jetbeam, etc. I believe it's American made so that's worth the price of dinner for a light to toss in the drawer by the fireplace. If it can run on 18650s that's even better.

Oh the smaller batteries usually take a good beating a lot better than the D cell lights. A drop falling from waist height straight down on the tail is enough to break the seal and make them leak all over the place. Leave it in there for a few months and the body is all corroded up.

Most of the AAA lights have three of 'em in a holder and these will take a lot of abuse too.

70 lumens? lol God can't even see it.
$150 for 70 lumens!!! lol

That's on low, that big ass reflector will really throw the light far. Put a 30W emitter in there and you have a light that can take on a $1K HID spotlight!

Or just get an SR90 and be done with it!

It's from 2009 so not on their website but it's pretty close to this one:

http://www.coastportland.com/px25-led-flashlight.htm

It's a tough puppy, been run over by a tractor, dropped in a pond, lost in a snow drift and found in the spring. It doesn't have HA3 like the quality lights so it has bare aluminum showing but it's a tool and I don't care!

But it lights up far, I can reach the power pole behind the barn at over 100 yards. It's good to look down the range to see if there are any eyes looking back at night!

i have a fenix l2d which for the price is pretty awesome.

however, my surefire e2L outdoorsman is simply the best. regulated 6 hours on high at 60 lumens (surefire lumens measured TTL not at tip of LED itself) and 100 on a nice puttering around campsite 3 lumens. really nice beam using their optics. perfect blend of floody with a nice bit of reach.

I have a Fenix E15 keychain light that is amazing. Need a house light now, TK35 or maybe TK75 search light that's like 2000 lumens (real lumens that light up a football field, not $48 Chinese lumens).

You need to go CR123 and 18650 if you really want a good light.

AA, AAA, D,C etc suck you need a 3v+ lithium if you want any real light power.

thanks. yeah the new LED modules are brighter, but i use the mode features of the maglite a lot. does that coast light dim? the maglite adjustable strobe is great for a make-shift roadside flare.. just set it to a very slow strobe. and the nightlight feature gets used every time i go camping.
