I know these posts get repeated alot and I apologize for that. I have been going to alot of stores and looking into the best overall speaker system to go with my new Micron. I have SB live ordered with the system and I for the most part play games. I do however like to listen to music and If youall could suggest some of the best overall 3 piece speakers for Both gaming and music I would greatly appreciate it. Please include Model numbers this wil make it easier for me to actually find some on display and see for my self in the best possible controled atmosphere

strictly for PC? i guess sciroco crossfires are the best. but then the prcing on those rival the home theater stuff. for relatively 'budget minded' users midiland s2-4100 comes thru. it kills klipsch promedias in mids and overall warmth/sound quality of music altho they dont have as much power. nuff said :)

According to the newest Computer Gaming World magazine in the killer rigs section the Boston Acoustics BA-635 were selected. They said "Best sub $100 speakers, period." and CGW has them listed at $60.

If you can find them the SONY SAVA-7 speakers are awesome. It has Dolby pro logic decoder, is 80 watts and has 4 speakers in each tower. 2 main 2 subs 2 centers and 2 tweeters. Plus it has several sound fields and a remote to boot! WOOHOO! Got from Crutchfield for 130 or so. I think they might be discontinued but shop around, someone may have a set for sale.

Well if you are looking into some of the best 3piece speaker systems, then I suggest you look into the Midiland/S2 4100(Diamond Audio HPM4100). Like Brothermen said, they are very nice speaker set that can rival many of the sub $1000 hometheater systems out there. I havent had a chance to compare them to the ProMedias, but from what Ive heard, the 4100's are the set to own for music. They might be a little hard to find now, but I believe that they have a few left at Diamond Audio. Check under the multimedia section.

Another speaker set to look into are the Videologic Sciroccos. Ive heard great reviews about these speakers, and they should be able to compete really well the 4100's.

I like my Videologic Siroccos. Great sound and great build quality. Pretty expensive though.

i owned:
2 sets of acs48
a set of acs56
a set of acs54
a set of logitech soundman x2
a set of acs 45.1
a set of aura aspect30
a set of fps100
a set of midiland s2 4100

...and one thang fo sho is the midilands kills the rest of them! buwhahahaha but acs48 is pretty decent for its price. aura aspect30 has very pleasing highs and mids and they are only $34 + s/h at meci.com just need a good sub to go with it :)

Don't overlook the Monsoon MM-700's because their flatpanels. These are flatpanel speakers that don't suck. The sound quality is amazing and the bass is pretty damn good too (its not room shaking unless you turn it up alot, but its good sounding bass). Many websites gave these speakers excellent reviews and I love my set.

They give this wierd feeling like you dont know where the sound is coming from... its hard to explain but neat.

Cambridge SoundWorks Digital 2.1, I know I know, they wont rock your house. But they're definitely some of the best 3 piece speakers for less than $100. Yamaha also make good 3 piece speakers for under $100. Sorry I dont know anything that are more expensive.

ACS48's I have 2 sets and they are awesome for the price! That is if you can find them. My personal favorite is my Yamaha 5140 reciever hooked up to the S/PDIF output on my SB LIVE! It is very cool!

I have the 45.1's, great sound and bass...but the volume control/on off switch is a bit of a pain...but great value for money..I think the 48's were what I wanted but couldn't get 'em...;)

Tyros, last night I set up a buddy w/ an SBLive! MP3+ and the Boston Acoustics Digital BA790. The 790's are an update to the BA MicroMedia three piece sytem. Improvements include control of the subwoofer level on the right satellite control module, and digital input from a digital capable sound card (which the MP3+ is). The BA790's sell for $100, and are a tough act to beat (especially since I paid $150 for my MM's a year ago).

I've been considering replacing my MicroMedia's w/ the Klipsch ProMedia's, but each time I listen to the BA's I just can't work up enough justification to make the switch (and I seldom duck an opportunity to spend $$ on computer parts <g>).

Last time I was in a Best Buy I saw some Boston Acoustics products on their shelves. Otherwise go to Boston Acoustics' website ([L]http://www.bostonacoustics.com/Series.asp?CategoryID=3[/L]) and order them directly from BA.
