Go with Windows XP or Windows 2000. Windows XP is a nice OS once you strip out all the bloat. Use nlite to strip out unneeded features from Windows XP. http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Windows XP won't use too many resources once you strip out all of the bloat. If you don't like XP, use Windows 2000. DON'T even consider using POS Windows 98/ME for running softwrae produced in the last 3.5 years!!!
