I've had my dads computer hooked up to his 56" 1080p HDTV for about a year. Right now i just have him running windows 7 with the dpi at 150%. He uses firefox with the default zoom level add-on set at 200%.
He mostly just watches movies and shows i download for him (torrent his shows and he watches them with VLC) He goes on websites like break.com and youtube once in a while. And very seldom he goes on facebook, craigslist, gmail, yahoo.com, maybe a few others) He also plays windows solitaire a lot.
I'd like to think that theres a better way to set this up, but i havent found anything yet. I've tried ubuntu with xbmc installed, but it was more work to get it to work like it does in windows.
Ideally i would like everything to be controlled with a mouse, and prefer typing via onscreen keyboard. I need a pretty high dpi because the tv is across the room. I need a easy way to browse the web as well.
I know i might have the ideal setup right now, but i would just like to know if anyone has any other recommendations.
