There is No Objective answer to this Question!
Each Brand has Good, and Not so good Stuff.
An example: If you need a Good Entry Level 802.11b Access Point, the Linksys WAP11 is favorable.
But that means nothing as far as other Linksys other Wireless products concern.
If you need 10 computers on the DMZ the SMC WVBR7004 is the only Entry Level Router that can Do So, but that does not mean that SMC is the Best Wireless manufacturer.
I can go on this way and give you more examples, but I hope that the point is made.
Putting aside Cisco, which is agreed to be better, but beyond the reach, and Not really needed to run a small Home/SOHO Network.Originally posted by: n0cmonkey
It's still interesting to see what other people like and have had good experiences with.
But I won't be basing my purchases off of this poll.![]()

My luck has been the exact opposite. OTOH, the only SMC card I got had a range of 3 inches and a loss rate of >60% .D-Link offers a lot of Bang to the Buck but the quality of the individual units is a crap shoot.
Motorola???? :Q

In the few answers above (which none really explains why?) You have Linksys, D-Link, Buffalo, and Netgear.
I like SMC.
So we are back to square One.
As some one that used almost all of them. I really do not find any advantage of One over the other as a Brand. Each Brand has Good and bad Models and it is really depends on what you are looking for.
Examples:
Setting aside the WET11 and WAP11 the rest of Linksys Wireless really Suxs.
D-Link offers a lot of Bang to the Buck but the quality of the individual units is a crap shoot.
Buffalo has a more flexible Wireless Hardware then the others but it is for a Price. So if you do not need this flexibility why pay more.
If you do not mind conservative Hardware and willing to pay more (but not as much as Cisco) get the Proxim Orinoco.
P.S. Microsoft is Out of the picture.
Apple is very limited in what they can offer.
Motorola???? :Q
