My current daily driver wasnt very well maintained by the previous owner and the crank shaft bearing finally gave out. My question is what are some options for getting rid of it that will hopefully put some $$ back in my pocket.

2001 Hyundai Elantra

I thought about pulling some of the newer parts off I've replaced and parting it out just not sure if those would even sell. Things like ignition coil, wires, tires but the body is in good shape too so I dont know if that would be an option too.

Motor around here would be around 22ish so I dont think thats a great option since I just bought a new daily driver for 26 which is in perfect shape.

Small Update 7/20:
Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it. At this point looks like I will probably be ripping it down and selling the parts for whatever I can get. A cheap motor would be nice but I would have to fix lots of other little things which I just really dont feel like doing.

Since it's the ex's car anyway I got out of the divorce I'd really just like to soak it in gas and blow the mf'er up!! Who's with me!!

What's the mileage on it? An 01 elantra with typical mileage aint worth much in perfect condition, let alone one without a motor...

If you've got some space and some know-how, you can tear the car down to bits, and have the carcass dragged away to the junkyard for scrap. My bro-in-law is in the process of scrapping a '95 Altima, and has already put together about 1300 from bits sold (doors, tail-lamp covers, steering wheel, etc, etc), and probably has about another 700-1000 coming. This takes time though. There really isn't any other way of getting any appreciable $ together from something like that.

A motor for that is available for $375 used + shipping from here : if you have a buddy with a cherry picker, that might be an option. A running '01 Elantra in decent shape makes a fine 2nd car, although selling it might be kind of hard. Could probably get 1200 or so if everything works and is reasonably clean.

Trade it into a dealer that is participating in the "Cash for Clunkers" program and get $4500 towards something that gets better MPG.

"First, if you're looking to trade in a vehicle, you'll need to make sure its combined EPA gas mileage rating is 18 mpg or below."

His car doesn't qualify, because it gets 25mpg and not the 18mpg-or-less requirement for the cash-for-clunkers program.

The only things I can think of are donating the car for a tax write-off or waiting for one of those auto deals where they let you trade in a car even if it doesn't run.

go to a pick a part place and see what they will give you for it. they buy cars for the parts, not whether the car runs or not. if you have a bunch of parts on it that are worth cash, they will buy it off ya. but they will try to undercut it majorly, be shrewd.
