Best optical burner?

My optical burner died and I got a second one hand that burns out shitty discs (jumping tracks and such) so Im looking for a new one.

Interface: I prefer PATA as I still have a PATA port and my optical burner worked perfectly with it. If I have to go SATA, so be it.

CD : Most important aspect as I burn CD-R and CD-RW constantly. Top speed, top quality. Ripping from CDs to perfect 1:1 FLACs is also preferred.

DVD : Im burning less DVDs but still I need them if I want to make a EP or something like that. Must support all formats -RW DL to +RW DL

Blu-Ray : I haven't needed to burn a Blu-Ray yet but I imagine with all the consoles coming with Blu-Ray that time will come. If cost does not limit me, it must support BDXL (reading and writing) for future purposes.

Tray style loading.

Cost: I don't want to spend much on something this stupid but I don't want to spend either 9 bucks so it can burn shitty CDs. My old burner was a NEC (I believe) and I was in loved with it.

There's a Sony (Sony/NEC?) "Archival grade" DVD+-RW drive available for around $30-35.

That said, I've had good luck with Sony/NEC Optiarc drives, as well as LG DVD-RW drives.

I can only comment on what I have used. the 12X is more than 3 yrs old (1000+ burns) & the 14X is more than a yr old, and both are used every day. The 12X has had 1 firmware upgrade, and takes about 18-20 minutes to burn a Blu-Ray, while the 14X only takes 12-14 minutes. They're both about equal for DVD burns. 12X is in a quad core, 14X in a hex core.

I've had no trouble at all with the Lite-On iHAS124-14 I got from Newegg a few weeks ($14 on sale) and I believe it's back on sale at the moment, as well. Just a CD/DVD drive, though, BD is still a bit more expensive than I'm willing to pay just to use it for storage.

I've grown fond of my Pioneer BDR-209EBK BDXL burner. Absolutely no trouble with it, and burns everything I've thrown at it so far with excellent quality. Haven't done much ripping with it though, so I can't say how good it is at that.
