So i have checked a bunch of local shops and i was curious what the internet had to offer. I have checked blue nile. I wanted to find out though what other diamond sites are there on the internet that have good prices and are respectable/reliable (read as NOT SHADY). Can anybody help me out?

Are you buying loose or set? I've got a few stones that I'm selling off.

Just because someone has a bunch of diamonds for sale does not make them shady.

for sure.... do you HAVE to buy new? I have found you can get really good quality diamonds "used" ... although, i don't know how anyone would know it was used...

This is exactly right. Theres one guy I know that buys warehouses where people dont pay the rent and liquidates the contents. Whenever he has heirloom jewelry, he sends them to a jeweler who can sell the peice as it sits or breaks the setting, seperates the stone and makes a brand new setting from scratch.

By the time he's done, you'd have no idea.

I have checked bluenile and they helped me learn alot about diamonds. I was just curious if there were any other good sites.

As for used the sensible side says it would be cheaper but the other side of me (read as g/f) doesn't want the possible stigma that comes with a used engagement ring

Also you have p/m pab.

Please dont mess up someone elses thread because you have some type of personal vendetta with me.

I sold the two, went on vacation and when I came back, the diamond world sucked me back into its throes. 😛

I would recommend bluenile as well as I had a very good experience with them for both the engagement and wedding bands. Another site that was recommended by many was mondera.com. I did not use them, but I heard several people recommend them...just didn't find the settings I liked.

anyone consider moissanite instead of a diamond. from what Ive read, it looks exactly like a diamond for a fraction of the price

And less blood on your hands

Only problem with moissanite is I've actually found some jewelers who will refuse to accept it as a stone for mounting in one of their rings. That and it supposedly doesn't hold its value like a real diamond will.

the only problem with moissanite, atrificial diamonds and etc is that they have not been able to brainwash women like debeer's has yet. If they could get a big enough campaign going they could probably take a chunk away from debeer's but until then women want an actual diamond and don't care how much blood was shed for it.

My GF wanted an antique/estate/old ring. I found that this site had a great collection. My sisters best friend got hers from that site and was very happy. I on the other hand got mine off of craigslist and saved a buttload of cash.
Now I am suffering through the hard part, waiting to propose. I am the type of guy who hates to wait, but I have to. 19 days and counting.

I was wondering about this, did you bring it to get appraised before you bought it of craigslist, how were you sure that it was what the seller said?
