best onboard gfx setting and possibly new videocard sugguestion

I have nvidia 6200 onboard, how do I maximize it, 2gb ddr cl2, x2 3800...any tricks beside increasing avail memeory for video? Also I will need something decent, I've had 7800gt before and it was pretty good, what should I get for the future card? I was thinking 7900gtx 512 since I have 2405, or shoudl I wait and maybe grab soem cheap midrange deal and wait until the next series of videcards arrive?
