In the past I've bought from crutchfield and then the local stereo shop. Whats the newegg of the car audio world? I'm planning to order a new deck and amp and want to look at some prices....

Thanks!

See thats like going to best buy for pc hardware though. Most of what they carry is overpriced and/or crap. I want a good price and some good gear 🙂 I'd rather buy from a shop and not ebay too.

Ebay is ok if you don't want a warranty...car audio manufacturers are very strict with their warranties...most make you have it installed professionally to even have a warranty. Find a local place that will deal with you...thats the best bet

Cructchfield is definitely tops when it comes to service, return policies, support, etc but their prices are far from competitive. You're buying a piece of mind.

Thanks funks and chin those are the kind of places I was looking for! Don't need support, etc, just a good product at a good price from a reputable vendor 🙂

The Zeb is known for having slight "glitches" so there is a little bit of risk involved when ordering from them. Of course, these "glitches" can all be solved by a phone call...or five.

thezeb or sounddomain have both been great to me...both do pricematching to justabout any site you can find online and both have pretty decent shipping times. I've only once ordered from thezeb and never had 1 "glitch"...

I like Etronics.com. They have very low prices, although occasionally the shipping a bit high. I'm surprised that their rating on ResellerRatings is mediocre, because I have only had good experiences with them.

Not wanting to get off topic, but what is a reasonable installation fee. I need to replace the 2 6.5" speakers from the front and back in my car. Bestbuy says they charge $40.00 per pair and another $10.00 to put the bass blockers.

guy, do it yourself - if you buy a wiring harness at crutchfield, they'll give you installation instructions for your car (on how to remove the interior panels and stuff )..

It's not really too hard. You don't even have to resolder or splice wires most of the time - check crutchfield - they sell speaker to factory speaker wiring harness and stuff.. Save the $$$ and get better speakers..

What are you planning on doing?

getting a two way up-front, 2 - midbase in the back and a sub? If you want to pay the $$$ to get it installed, go to a place like tweeter instead of Best Buy..

I've got the 2 12" subs and amp already installed in my car. I just need to replace the fronts and the rears. I could probably do the rears myself, just not sure about the fronts. I'm looking online to see if I'd have to remove the door panel or how to access the speakers. I wasn't too sure how to setup the bass blockers either. They told me I need to wire it in the positive terminal of the speakers (If I recall correctly) I don't really have any problems doing it myself, I just need to first find the info on what and how it needs to be done 🙂

never had a problem w/ the zeb, AND by the way the phone calls went, it sounded like they had pretty good customer service...and great prices on products as well as shipping...

another plus is, find someone with the same product @ a cheaper price, and email them, they pricematch very well.
