Best 'older' video card, and why?

I'm looking for a decent video card for a system I'm building. The future owner of this system plays a few games, but nothing that requires any serious muscle so price is a big factor.

The two cards I've been able to find locally for a good price are:
3Dfx Voodoo3 16MB ($40)
Shuttle (Spacewalker) GeForce2MX 32MB SDR ($55)

Since the GeForceMX is only SDR, and I'm trying to keep costs down as much as possible, is there enough of an improvement to warrant buying it rather than the Voodoo3? Or is there another option in this price range, and if so what, and where can I get it? (The prices I listed are in US dollars.)

Thanks for your help!

The voodoo3 might be a descent lowend gaming card, but the gforce will be a better all around video card. If they do any image editing at all then the colors will be better on a gforce and resolution will be better (mainly because of the added memory).

Isn't the GF2MX in that review a DDR model? The only one I've found for around $50 is SDR and probably much slower...

If you use that link that Boonesmi gave you:
And consider the TNT2 Ultra is a 16MB SDR card and consider that the GForce2MX is a more advanced engine with more memory, it can't help but perform better.

the mx sdr, if it has a 128bit bus, tends to be faster than the ddr ones with 64bit bus. i would take the mx any day over the v3. the only thing the v3 has is better looking 2d sharpness, but still the mx wins over it

Not to mention I just found an extremely helpful article on how to overclock the MX... 😛
Looks like it's time to go shopping!

Thanks again.
