Best of the Best...for $2000

At the end of summer I will approximately have around 2k from my job. My current system is staying with the folks, while I get another one for college!

As you can tell about the past posts on the msg board, I'm really out of the loop.

So around 2k whats the best I could get, I'm looking into and AMD system. The system needs to last my 4 years of college. By the way, I do not want to overclock! Sorry, I know everyone's been successful, but my bad experience with my current system has turned me away forever! Plus I want stability, stability, and more stability. I don't want to deal with crashes and what not in college.

Thanks guys.

With that kind of money, might I suggest going with something for maybe $1200 and saving the rest for upgrades? $1200 will get you a decent system and two years down the road, you should only need some more memory, a new processor and a new video card. All of which should be able to be had for less than $800 (especially if you get interest).
I'm assuming you are going to end up playing some games.

Nobody really needs anything more than This and its only $700 or so... plus say another $350 for a good 19" monitor. If you truly want the best, take that computer, get a Gforce3 instead of the Radeon, get a SB Live Platinum or some other 5.1 sound card, and put in a 60GB HD and 512MB of RAM.. still shouldnt run you more than $1600.
Most of that difference will be $300 more for the Gforce which isnt worth it unless you play the latest games...
