I'm building a rig for my brother with an Allendale E6400, Geil DDR2-1000 RAM, and a Tuniq Tower 120 heatsink. I want to overclock it as much as possible while maintaining stability. I've previously had good results with a DS3, E6400, and Zalman 9500 (3.4 Ghz Orthos stable), but I've also heard great things about the Asus P5B Deluxe.

For those who have used both (or also the Bad Axe 2 975 board), what would you recommend for overclocking an Allendale? Anandtech gave the edge to the ASUS board, but I was wondering if it did just as well for the Allendale chips as it does for Conroe?

I've also found the Bad Axe 2 for <$180...is it as good of an overclocker as the 965 boards?

If I were you, I'd go with DS3 (maybe wait couple of weeks for rev 3.3 to be fully available). The only thing you're lacking is firewire and Raid 5 and 10. But you save like 60 bucks. And the board is a proven overclocker.

In general, a 975x boards isn't going to reach as high FSB as P965 boards.
