Best OC CPU ever!!!

Just wondering what everyone thinks. I have a T-Bred 1700+ that is OC'ed to 2.4 ghz on air. That's almost a 1Ghz overclock. Anything better??

That's an excellent overclock inglewood78, assuming that you are using air cooling.
I have a 1.8A Northwood that has been going @ 2.916 GHz for close to 2 years now.
3.0ghz to 5.25ghz, do the math
Is that possible without extreme cooling?

nope.

My 1700 did 2.4 Ghz with vcore of 1.725 vcore. Never got more cause my old PC2100 only could do 192mhz. I actually still have it and its for sale 😀

Celeron 300A, if i recall correctly is the best overclocking cpu of all time in terms of % overclock.

Personal best is a measly 2.6@ 3.2 at 1.60v though...don't feel like taking it above that V. I know I can push more at 1.65 though. Then again I just had 2 cpus, this one and my old 1600+ palomino which was nothing to write home about.

Mine were
celeron 300a@504Mhz +204Mhz +68%
celeron 366@566Mhz +200Mhz +54%
pentium3 700@980Mhz +280Mhz +40%
pentium4 1800@2502Mhz +702Mhz +39%

Those were all on normal aftermarket air coolers, without a doubt the celeron 300 takes the cake

back in the day, 366 celly to 550 on stock cooling. Top of the line then was 600mhz p3. It only lasted 3 mnths 😛

% pts are misleading as the lower the MHz than the higher % can be achieved with minimal boost...so MHz OC is what counts IMO

1 of my 1700XP does 2.4GHz +on air .

Nice OC OnEMoReTrY if it's on air (which I doubt).

My P4 1.8 did 2.7 on my EPOX 4PEA+, that's probably the best OC I've had.
I had a PII 233 @ 367 a couple years back...

As obeseotron points out...It's a percentage deal not a Mhz deal... Obviously you have some outstanding percentages as well (60% OC)... but my celeron 300a @ 500 comes close (66%).🙂

I wish I still had my 1700 XP still, 1466 stock it would run at 2400 no problem at vcore of 1.7 in the BIOS. If I only had the RAM I have now for that puppy I'm sure it would hit 2.5 no problem which is over 100% OC...

JBT, man you need to work on your math... Don't know if I should tell you about watercooling anymore..might hurt yourself 😛

OC to 2400Mhz

1466 Mhz * x = 2400Mhz

x = 1.637

subtract one, multiply by 100

1.637 - 1 = 0.637 x 100 = 63.7% overclcok

or

OC to 2500Mhz

1466 Mhz * x = 2500Mhz

x = 1.705

subtract one, multiply by 100

1.705 - 1 = 0.705 x 100 = 70.5% overclcok

I had a P4 2.0 that did 3Ghz two years ago.

Seems like cpu's haven't scaled that much over the years.
