Would anyone know how to get REAL NTSC video from a computer?

It seems these 'all in one' cards are crap. These computer engineers can't seem to produce a afforable card that has REAL NTSC video quality.

I'm on my second card with video out and the results are poor. I doubt that the bandwidth exceeds 3 MHz! I've seen better video from regular VHS which is only 2 MHz

How about these external boxes that convert VGA to NTSC?
Do you still have to mess with all thje settings in display properties?

What have you used so far? And what are you trying to use it for?

If it's DVDs, have a look at a Hollywood+ based card, has the best DVD/VCD out of any other card on the market. Can't do desktop though.

The video-out on my Radeon VIVO is pretty good for video actually. The quality of DVD's are certainly higher than watching the VHS copies from my VCR, and thats using a rf-adapter on my old tv. When I used my AIW Radeon in the past, it was hard for the family to tell whether I was going straight from the cable or through my comp (the Radeon had an AA effect, so I could tell)

Check your cables and connections. Perhaps video drivers? I dunno, but I even game with my TV-out fairly regular...no complaints here. I am hoping the new ATI DVI>component video-out adapter will work with my old AIW, if not, I'll be looking very close at the 8500dv, then digital widescreen TV...here I come.

Matrox G200 which I know is good for video (2d) but the worst for games was my first card 3 years ago.

Now I have a Asus V7100 DC with the nVidia GeForce 2 MX chip which is good for games (HUGE difference over the Matrox) but not as good for video. Max out is 800x600. The G200 did 1024x768!

But the video is still poor. Using a Hitach Ultravision 46" projection TV (before they removed the 'time compressed picture enhancement and the delay line profile enhancemant circuits) for the monitor everything looks like a cartoon, even hi-res jpegs!
Please don't tell me about projection TV's either, this is my 3rd set and I will put this up against anything out there including Phonys (Sony) but not HDTV monitors of copurse. After doing video production for 10 years I know what to look for!

What gives better quality:

Playing back S-VHS in SP mode through S-Video connector through standard analog VCR

or

Playing back DVD on PC and outputting it to TV through S-Video on Radeon Vivo?

What's this a test?

I don't have any s-vhs tapes, nor s-video connection (remember I use a rf-adapter to connect to my old TV), however, a standard VHS outputs appx 240 lines(regardless if you use an s-vhs tape) vs at least 525 lines for a DVD(even through the Radeon's TV-out) you do the math.

A better example would be:

Q: Does a DVD look as good through the radeon's TV-out as it does with a stand alone player hooked to the TV?

A: Not quite, they look pretty good, but not as crisp. The Stand alone DVD player has better ouput.

Q: Does a DVD look as good through the Radeon's TV-out as a VHS version of the same movie played through my VCR?

A: No, they look much better. The Radeon outputs higher quality than my VCR when using higher quality video.
