As many you know, Intel is planning on releasing a newer cpu that will support 500 Mhz BUS and Dual Channel Memory. Hence, many notebook vendor are having clearances for their laptop.

I heard the way to go is IBM or Fujitsu, because of reliability and performance. Ideally I wanna less than 1500.

Here, I pose this question, which laptop would you get and why?

Three ring spiral!

Just bought a Dell 500m 1.3ghz P4-M w/ 256mb from their outlet store. Why good price for a Centrino based laptop, light weight about 6lbs, and moderately inexpensive. It is my second Dell laptop and we have 5 Dell laptops at work all work well even the ones that are most mobile.

IBM T series are the best laptops, you might be able to get a very low end config for $1400

Try these guys out

I bought an M37EW from them just a week or two ago. It's awesome. I love the WUXGA screen on it :)

P-M 1.8
1 GB DDR
9700 Mobility
60 GB HD
15.4" 1920x1200
Wireless b/g

$1734

You can easily cut that down to $1500 by going down to 512 RAM and maybe a 1.6 GHz proc. It's built well and they're really great to deal with. I think I'm gonna post a mini-review when I get some more time.

Quite overpriced for what it actually is. They screw you with a 4200 rpm hardrive and there are many OEM notebooks for almost half the price with nearly the same specs.

Alienware Area-51m 7700
It's the modern day equivalent of a 1969 Dodge Charger with a 426 Hemi... Big, Hot, a little ugly, and Fast As Hell....

Uh, there's a link in my post to their website... but here's a more specific one:

M37EW

The cpus are dothans. I went 1.8 with a gig of ram and a 60 GB hd. Lady on the phone gave it to me for $1734 instead of $1799 so that ain't too shabby either.

I'm very happy with it. The screen is gorgeous.
