For CAD and intense multitasking, with battery lifespan not a concern, which would be best.... AMD Mobile Ahtlon 4000+ 2.6ghz, Pentium D 940, or Core 2 Duo Merom?
 
What about a Core 2 Merom 7200 or ever 7600 compared to an AMD Socket AM2 X2 4600+....Power consumption isn't a concern as much as power, I'm pretty sure that the x2 4200 is better than the mobile core 2 duo merom, im just as to what everyones opinion is on how much better is the performance.

laptop core 2 vs. core 1
core 1 vs. AMD X2

From those I gather that core 1 is at least as fast as A64 X2 clock-for-clock, and core 2 is 10-20% faster than core 1.

So a 2.0 GHz core 2 merom 7200 should be at least as fast as a desktop 2.2 GHz X2 4200+.
