ive read a few reviews, but never found a 'roundup' or a comparison involving any more than two devices at one time. does anyone have any advice or links to point me in the right direction?

ive only checked the stock of one store where they have an oddly shaped antec cooler ($42 CDN) and a vantec lapcool2 ($57 CDN), the vantec seems much more impressive at least from the reviews and the antec cooler seems to have iffy reviews but is cheaper. ive noticed that the coolermaster "coolpad" recieved a glowing review at tomshardware in comparison to the vantec, but coolermaster has even come out with a new one called the 'notepal'... are any of those worth looking at? i noticed that most of them have the placement of the fans are usually in the middle or to the back while the hottest area of my laptop (a compaq presario 2100, a canadian model) is towards the front underneath the trackpad, is fan placement, or looking for an all aluminum structure an issue i should be looking into?

anyways, sorry this was a mouthful, but if any one could share some advice that would be really really great.
thanx. :)

I had a targus cool pad for my HP. It did a good job. I tested out all of them, and they are all a rip off for the money. You could probably make a nice one yourself out of some nice 120mm fans. Those small fans dont do much to remove heat anyway.

If you use it as a desktop replacement, might as well get a ghettoditioner, and open a window on it, or go with the targus. It's got 4 additional USB ports and a wall adapter, so it doesnt drain out your batt.

If your planning to carry the thing around with you, buy another laptop.
