Best notebook cases

I'm in the market to buy a new notebook in the coming weeks, and am leaning strongly towards the thinkpad T40. But that's besides the point.

I'm trying to decide what the best notebook carrying case is for my purposes. I'm a student living in the city, and will most likely travel to school by bike a fair bit, so I'm leaning towards a bookbag style.

I've looked at websites for Targus and Jansport, but am still unsure about which model there is the best. Even further, are there other companies or models I am not considering in this search, and lastly, where are the cheapest prices on bags like this?

I appreciate any advice you have.

I have seen quite a few notebook backpacks in the clearance bins at some of the office supply stores like OfficeMax/Depot, Staples.

I bought the targus sportpack deluxe. It's pretty big, padded very well, and has pockets for everything. I can even fit at least 3 books in it for school. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for your post Bigshooter. I've looked into targus, and they have a ton of different styles. Can you tell me what model/style you have? Where did you buy it and how much was it?

Thanks

Sounds to me like this case from the 'geeks might be right up your alley. Targus makes quality stuff - I've used a plain canvas case of theirs for 4 years, and it's served me well - but don't pay anything more than you have to.

I think I've seen that pack. Do you like it? One review I read of it said that it was too big for the purpose.

I do like it. It gives me plenty of room for all my computer junk, plus a pocket for pda if i want to stow it, as well as a pocket for my cell phone. It has all the other pockets for pencils, water bottles, etc... plus plenty of room to still keep books in. It is fairly big, and it would be too big for just a laptop, but I use it for school so I would like to take EVERYTHING with me to class so I don't have to run back to my car every 2 hours.
